Who Needs Microneedling?

The procedure may be an option for patients in good health who are experiencing skin issues that have not responded to home treatments or other skin procedures.

Microneedling is generally not recommended for people who use certain acne medications or pregnant women.

Microneedling vs. Home Rollers

Home rollers are not the same as professional microneedling, and they do not reach the same depth as an in-office treatment. Home rollers cost less and may be less painful, but your provider can explain whether professional microneedling is appropriate for concerns like acne scars, wrinkles, and large pores.

How to Prepare For Microneedling RF

Before treatment, patients should speak to a Bliss Room provider to find out what they need to do to prepare for the procedure. They may need to stop taking certain medications, such as ibuprofen, and acne creams. Patients may also need to stop using topical retinoids to reduce their risk of certain side effects.

The Equipment We Use

At The Bliss Room, our providers use the PiXel8-RF system for microneedling RF treatment. The system uses bi-polar RF energy and minimally invasive microneedles to heat the patient’s skin deep beneath the surface. The heat is designed to support the production of collagen and elastin.

Depending on the patient’s skin and treatment objectives, the provider may adjust the needle depth from .5mm to 3.5mm. While the patient’s skin is being heated, the Arctic Chiller Cold Air System cools the skin with cold air, helping to minimize patient discomfort.

What to Expect During Treatment

To begin treatment, your provider will cleanse the skin and apply a topical anesthetic. Then, the provider will use the PiXel8-RF system to evenly prick the skin. Each pinprick is extremely tiny and is usually hard to see after treatment.

Potential Risks & Side Effects

Immediately after the procedure, patients are likely to have mild skin irritation and redness that may last a few days. This is a normal response to the intentional “injuries” created by treatment. Patients should ask their provider when it is okay to wear makeup over the redness.

Other risks of microneedling include bleeding, bruising, infection, and peeling.

How to Protect The Skin After Treatment

After the procedure, patients should apply sunscreen to protect their sensitive skin. The micro injuries caused by microneedling encourage the skin to produce new cells. Results vary, and some patients notice changes within a few weeks.
