Were you aware that volume loss is one factor behind many visible signs of aging? As we become older, wrinkles appear around the lips and nose, and the skin on the cheeks starts to sag.

Dermal fillers can help replace volume that has been lost over time for a more refreshed look. But which Juvéderm filler do you need?

What is Juvéderm?

Juvéderm is a type of dermal filler used to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines and add volume to areas of the face. It is mainly comprised of Hyaluronic acid, a molecule that occurs naturally in the body and keeps skin hydrated and supple.

With distinct formulas, Juvéderm fillers may address a range of cosmetic goals. Depending on the formula, it can be used in the cheeks to add fullness or in the chin, the lips, or the smile lines to soften visible signs of aging.

Even if you feel as though you see a problem area, your provider should determine your treatment through a consultation. They will be able to guide you on what areas you can work on and which of these formulas is appropriate for you and your current concerns.

Which Areas Can Be Treated?

Depending on the formula, the following facial areas can be treated with Juvéderm, and results can be visible soon after treatment:

  • Lip injections for lip augmentation or fullness
  • Parenthesis lines, also known as smile lines
  • Mouth’s outer corners
  • Lines below the corners of your mouth (Marionette Lines)
  • Smoker’s lines, or vertical lip lines

Juvéderm Volbella XC

Typically, Juvéderm Volbella is used to soften and smooth vertical lines around the mouth. It often has less plumping and more smoothing effect and is frequently used to soften the appearance of vertical lip lines by subtly adding volume to your lips. Results vary, but for many patients they typically last up to a year.

Juvéderm Ultra XC

The Juvéderm Ultra XC product is frequently used to plump or add fullness to the lips. The Juvéderm Ultra XC effects can be more noticeable or very natural-looking. Your provider will talk with you about the look you want. Results typically last up to a year, although this varies from person to person.

Juvéderm Ultra Plus XC

Use Juvéderm Ultra Plus XC to fill in and reduce the appearance of moderate to severe wrinkles and folds around the lips. It’s not unusual for customers to require more than one Juvéderm Ultra Plus XC syringe for the area around their lips and nose. Results differ by person, and they typically last up to a year.

Juvéderm Vollure XC

Juvéderm Vollure uses a cross-linking technology that gives it its own qualities, and the manufacturer reports results that typically last up to 18 months, though results vary. It is frequently used to smooth moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as marionette lines, smile lines, and nasolabial folds.

Juvéderm Voluma XC

Juvéderm Voluma is FDA-approved to add volume to the cheek area and is used to plump the apples of the cheek and fill the midface. As we get older, our cheeks can lose volume and begin to look hollow. Adding volume can help address this change, and results can be visible soon after treatment. Depending on your goals, one or two syringes of Juvéderm Voluma may help create a more refreshed look. It can add contour and a subtle lift to the cheeks, and for many patients results typically last up to two years.
